Verdai ("we", "us") builds an AI-powered crop and plant diagnosis app. This policy explains what information we collect through the Verdai app and website, why, and the choices you have.
| Category | What it includes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Name, email, authentication data (via Clerk) | Sign-in, identify your account |
| Profile | Growing context (e.g. smallholder, gardener), region, primary crops, farm size | Personalize the app's tools to your use case |
| Diagnosis photos | Photos you scan for disease/pest identification | Sent to our AI providers to generate your diagnosis; see "Diagnosis images" below for storage |
| Diagnosis results | AI-suggested condition, confidence estimate, treatment plan, your feedback on accuracy | Shown to you, saved to your journal |
| Location | Approximate or precise location (with permission) | Local weather, market prices, and regional outbreak alerts |
| Community content | Posts and replies you choose to share | Visible to other users in the Community section |
| Usage & device data | Crash/error diagnostics; optional product-usage events when you enable analytics | Fix bugs and, with your choice, understand feature usage |
| Payment data | Subscription status (processed by Apple/Google/RevenueCat — we never see your card number) | Manage your subscription tier |
| Website submissions | Email address and, for pilot applications, the name, organization, role, phone, crops, scale, and notes you choose to provide | Confirm waitlist signup, review a pilot request, and reply to you |
Every photo you scan is sent to our AI providers (currently Google Gemini, and optionally a specialist crop-health identification service) solely to generate your diagnosis. By default, the Verdai backend does not store a durable copy of your diagnosis photos after generating your result.
Verdai does not use unsigned client-side image hosting for saved diagnosis or community photos. If you opt in to data sharing in Settings, our backend may additionally store the diagnosis photo alongside your diagnosis and any feedback you give (e.g. confirming the diagnosis was correct), so it can be used to improve future versions of our diagnosis models. This is off by default, fully optional, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Data & Privacy — doing so stops future photos from being retained and removes retained training-image objects when the change succeeds.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Verdai is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Verdai's "School Garden" mode is intended to be used under the supervision of a teacher or school administrator's account, not created or operated directly by a student under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We retain account and diagnosis data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. Waitlist and pilot-submission data is retained only as needed to manage the requested contact and meet legal/security obligations. We use industry-standard safeguards (encrypted connections, access-scoped database roles) to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date above.
